I was on the beach when the Olympic torch was coming by representing the Special Olympic Games were about to begin in LA so I stopped and took a video of it. It brought back memories of my Olympic experience. Also, Hermosa Beach was hosting athletes from Belgium.  I met a group of them on the strand at 23rd street. I told them a story about my exciting and life changing tournament in Belgium.  Belgium was the last qualification tournament event for the Olympics in 2000.  It was 2 year journey that took Dain Blanton and I all over the world to try and secure an Olympic berth. Well, we put ourselves in a situation where we had to finish 4th or better in Belgium. It was an extremely stressful time but we were very focused on our goal of making the USA Olympic team. Dain and I played extremely well all weekend and ending up finishing 3rd.  We were heading to the Olympics.  Our journey didn’t end there, we had a dream of earning a medal in Sydney, Australia. On September 26, 2000, we won gold for the United States.
